The city of Madrid will once again welcome the galleries' exhibition season with the great event to celebrate the cultural rentrée in the capital: Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend. Driven by Arte Madrid —Association of Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries of Madrid—, this year it will celebrate its 13th edition  from September 8 to 11 with the participation of more than fifty galleries and numerous national and international artists.

Bringing contemporary art and gallery activity closer to the professional and non-professional public and fostering dialogue between contemporary art and other cultural disciplines are the two pillars of an event that will present the exhibitions for four days simultaneously in the galleries season openers. On September 8, all Madrid residents will have the opportunity to attend the opening of the association's 55 galleries, which will open during special hours.

A complete program of activities that will take place in the different neighborhoods of the capital and that, as occurs with other European cities such as Berlin, Paris, Milan or Lisbon, make the Madrid Gallery Weekend Opening a more than consolidated event in the artistic calendar of the capital.  

Guided tours to enjoy the contemporary art of the city in collaboration with the Pablo Palazuelo Foundation, events in the galleries or the ARCO Gallery Walks organized by the ARCO Foundation, are some of the free activities that will make up a rich program that during the month of September will make contemporary art the protagonist of Madrid's cultural life. In addition, there will be a space for literature, once again repeating the collaboration with neighborhood bookstores that began in the 2021 edition.

To make its programming even more accessible to the public, Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend has an app Arte Madrid's own, active all year round —available for free on Google Play and AppStore— through which visitors will have the opportunity to easily organize their route and enjoy the wide range of artistic offerings that will take place in the different galleries distributed through the neighborhoods of Lavapiés, Letras, Centro, Salesas, Chamberí, Salamanca and other districts, to consult all the information related to the event and the activities around it.

Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend has the support, collaboration and sponsorship of both private companies and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council.
